Access Technology Project (ATP)
With a population of about 100,000, Chililabombwe town of Zambia is located on the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo. More than 60 percent of the population are youth and children. Some fend for themselves. Most of the secondary school graduates have neither touched nor used a computer. The ratio of computer usage in Zambia is one computer per one thousand people.
ATP seeks to bridge the digital divide and leverage the power of information and communication technologies. The resulting resource and training center will provide training in secretarial and internet skills to youth to prepare them for employment. ATP will also help disseminate information on the pressing issues facing the community, such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, and Malaria. Additionally, the project will serve as a venue for emotional support, community outreach, and educational entertainment.
The Library Project
The goal of this project is to establish the community Bank of Knowledge Library that will cater to over 8,000 secondary school and college students, teachers, researchers, as well as the general public. Due to high poverty levels within the communities, a family of six typically has to survive on less than a dollar per day. We believe that by promoting literacy and providing tools for a better education, we can help lift these communities out of poverty and put them on the road to sustainable economic and social development.
Micro credit Project
The vision of this initiative is help community have access to resources that can help them identify potential businesses .Most of the people have ideas on how they can improve the lives and sustain their families. These people need as much as $100 to start a business.
